Handover day: how to inspect your unit

An orderly inspection on handover day saves you problems later.

24 Sep 2026 · 3 min

Snagging is the defect inspection before you accept the unit. You go through everything, room by room, and note what is not right.

What to check

  • Walls, ceilings and floors: cracks, stains, joints, uneven areas.
  • Doors, windows and locks: that they open, close and seal properly.
  • Bathrooms and kitchen: taps, drains, water pressure, damp.
  • Air conditioning, lights and sockets.

Take photos, write everything down and ask the developer to sign it with a repair deadline. For a large or high-value unit, consider hiring a professional inspector.
